L’altell English books reading club

L’altell offers among those who read in English a new “English Reading Club”. It’ll be the old fashioned style of book club: we propose a book to read and then, in two months’ time, we’ll meet to talk about it as we please. Who knows if in the future we will start a new online club or if we'll create a reading club blog, but for now the traditional way seems to be more expedient.

The books to be read will originally be written in English and the meetings in which we will comment on them will also be in English.

Our intention is to avoid a club in which a group of literary snobs sit around arguing about dry concepts. Our reading club will be open to anyone who likes books even if they have no academic background whatsoever. Everyone is welcome.

We already have in mind several suitable books; to start with, we propose the following:

“The Underground Railroad” by Colson Whitehead

Joing us for the discussion will be Aniol Rafel, the publisher of this book in Catalan.

The discussion will take place on the 22nd of September at 8.30pm at L’altell bookstore, first floor.

It's an astonishing novel that will keep you engrossed right from the very first page. It has won the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction 2017, the National book Award and the Arthur C. Clarke Award 2017.
